On August 7, 2013 (78 FR 48224), the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) published a combined safety notice and announcement for an emergency meeting of the Railroad Safety Advisory Committee to discuss the circumstances surrounding the Lac-Megantic Canada railroad accident and determine any needed safety-related recommendations to railroads operating in the United States.
